Moral ethics

The ethical issues discussed on this website relate primarily to morality. This subject was chosen as it is not often approached in graphic design as it is less clear cut than other ethical issues, such as legality or sustainability. Naturally overlaps occur within the area of ethics and a topic may not be singularly focused on morality.

Moral ethics to be studied are:

  • Manipulation
  • Corruption
  • Dishonesty
  • Misrepresentation
  • Exploitation

The ethical issues to be addressed often feed into larger issues affecting society. Examples of these include:

  • Human rights
  • Health
  • Discrimination
  • Crime
  • Politics
  • Poverty

A definition of moral ethics has been defined for the purpose of this website:

Moral ethics refers to behaviour and/or conduct which is considered to be right and/or good in relation to the rules of conduct outlined through design education, discussion, set by precedent and moral intuition.
